LONDON: Arsene Wenger felt that his decision not to spend big in the summer and to keep faith with his youngsters paid dividends in their devastating performance against AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday.
The trouble with Young Guns is that they blow hot & cold. The rush of blood in youngsters makes them go where older hands may ponder first, which is both a blessing as well as a curse. The inconsistency of less experienced players may also show up later in the season, as pitches become heavier, & injuries & suspensions take their toll.
Without spending on good & experience players, the arse-holes can forget about winning the BPL and CL. Anyway, the arse-holes usually flop in the 2nd half of the season.
BTW, arse-holes, like any other clubs outside the big 4 (Besides Man City), is unable to attract star players to sign for the club. The reason is because "whinger" is very "neow".
In spite of Manuel Almunia's recent aberations, I suspect that Wenger still rates him highly. This is made plain by the Arsenal boss talking up his chances to be England's future goalie, as the Spaniard qualifies on the 5-year-residency ruling.
