SINGAPORE is a top immigration hot spot, according to a global survey conducted by Gallup.

I think Singapore is more like a stepping stone tor greener pastures in USA, Europe, and Australia.

I rather be the migrant than the True Singaporean.
The treatment Singaporean received is no better than the migrant
I think the government in trying to woo the migrant had neglected the Singaporean or had taken us for granted.

If the US were to issue green cards freely, you bet they would be snapped up immediately. Likewise, its citizenship.

How many would want to take up Singapore citizenship?

If the US or the EC countries were to open their doors, how many would want to come to Singapore?

Singapore would score extremely well in personal security though (compared to the larger US cities).

This coming election will be different for me and my family. We have to carefully consider the real possibility of our jobs being replaced by foreigners who can get job easily because employers favor those who are younger and cheaper for similar skill set.

With the increased cost of living, and decreasing wages and the policy of having our wage cut once we are near our retirement years we need policies that can immediately addressed these issues of the people on the street levels.

It is no longer enough to have a good , credible government , because my family livelihood is at stake. We need a government that can really feel the stress and hardship and solve these issues on the ground level. We are not looking for temporary measures like TOP ups , or rebates. These are temporary measures with no real long term solutions , and we are sick and tired of it..

We do not need arm chair generals who merely talks and brush asides bread and butter issues of the common people who are finding it have a future and call Singapore our home.

Singapore is not a conducive country for "migrants" but a convenient springboard to greener pastures for the abled. For whores, ill-minded migrants and lowly paid Foreign Talents it is still ok to work here. Look at Sg now, the streets are flooded with foreigners that locals are not sure whether it is their country now. Stop this rot once and for all.

"Where migrants want to go to"

I guess this title is a bit misleading. It's more like "Where emigrants can go to".

The top destinations are simply the countries with the most relaxed immigration policy. Pretty obvious right.
Try getting into the US or EU.

Kokoobird had expressed my sentiments exactly. I had always supported the government, and had a lot of respect and admirations for our leaders. But the changes to our demographic in the last few years, had made me felt I had lost my beloved country. It felt like we had been invaded and lost a war without fighting for it. It is as though we had been betrayed by traitors who gave up our country for financial and economical gain. It is unlikely that this coming election will have any surprises to the expected results. And it is also as unlikely that the government will gave us back the country we are familiar and loved. But as I do not have the means to make a living elsewhere, so I will have to adjust, even how miserable it is at first. It is not practical to look to the government for permanent measures to solve our livlihood issues. We just have to compete, and compete more aggressively, as we have more competitions now.

So looking at supply and demand, seems that Singapore would be overwhelmed by Africians within the next few years.

We are always afraid that 'talents' will not be willing to come to Singapore if we make them serve NS and 12 years of reservists.
But looking at such great number of demand, we should simply make new citizens serve NS + perhaps even 20 years of reservists.
We may not get all the 13m that wants to come, but still we can get half of those with the NS obligations would be fine.

So let us let all new immigrants serve NS and we can surely pick the real committed ones that settle in Singapore and defend our enlarged nation.
