"Two weeks ago, the Lions won the Ho Chi Minh City International tournament, drawing with hosts Vietnam 2-2 and beating Turkmenistan 4-2 and a Korean university selection 1-0."
Wow, that's a country's top X1 beating a Korean uni selection? So next time, we will have the top X1 challenging each JC/Uni and Poly's football team?
The New Paper & ST love to put local players on the pedestal. Noh Alam Shah has delusions of grandeur now, expecting the adulation of thousands of fans, wealth, fame & the trappings of top professional footballers in Europe, while not possessing the necessary talent to make it at the highest level of the game.
If Alam Shah is any good, then why did his trials with lowly Notts County in England, & Skonto Riga in Latvia end in rejection by both these unknown clubs? Yet our local press built him up as a talented striker who managed to secure trials with unknown European clubs. Shouldn't we be celebrating only when our local stars actually get a contract with a renowned club in Europe?
