200,000 may leave
January 20, 2009 Tuesday, 01:14 PM

SINGAPORE'S population may shrink in the next two years as 'sizeable' job losses amid the city- state's deepest recession force 200,000 foreigners to leave, Credit Suisse Group said in a report on Tuesday.
About 300,000 jobs may be lost by 2010, two-thirds of which are held by foreigners and permanent residents, economists Cem Karacadag and Kun Lung Wu wrote in the report, according to Bloomberg news.

no way la, when the economy picks up again they will hire " foreign talent" again ........ I came from the financial sector ( bank) and was retrenched many years ago . As far as we know in those Banks , all the various level are all angmos, hongkies & indians. They occupied almost 80-90% of those posts. All singaporean balek kampung .

Are they really smarter than lcoal fellows? I doubt......

Tose foreign talent will get their job offer secured first then later to decide to apply for PR or citizenship. Most of them still holding dual citizenship because in their mind they will have to go abck to their home town one of these days. Whereas we have nowhere to go........... and we have to go overseas and make ourself as "foreign talent" in other countires.

Its sad...........

go check out the singapore expat forum and you will realise how arrogant and how much these foreigners look down on locals. They complain everything negative about our culture, weather, living standards, poor english, service standards, professionalism, and laugh at locals' average pay

They also steer clear of getting PR as need to do NS

Majority are just here to earn disgusting amount of salary, with fat benefits of international schools, accomodation (must stay in atas area), etc. They steer clear of local social circle, and form an elite circle by themselves

I say no lose for us (in this economic hard times)

Time for them to leave. The more the merrier. Singapore is getting too congested.

When will most of the lights be swtiched off to give this overly heated and tired earth a well earned breather from this mess, the runaway pollution?

Take a break.

When and how will Capitalism fall and collapse into a Heap? Some said: Impossible!

RBS lost 28 billion pounds in 2008. Not million but billion.

Kaput. Finished. A bankrupt bank. Lost 70% of its share price yesterday.

Who will be next?
