McDonald's, Starbucks refute 'boycott' SMS
January 11, 2009 Sunday, 05:47 AM

A phone text message making its rounds among Singaporeans has been calling for the boycott of McDonald's fast-food outlets and the Starbucks coffee chain, claiming the two American companies are financially supporting the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

So, according to what we read..some Singaporeans have stopped patronising McDonald's and Starbucks.
What or who next..then?
Does one cancel one's lifetime trip to Disneyworld?
Where does all this nonsense stop?

Then..do we gag all those american sounding presenters on radio and TV here? YES,YES,YES.

This boycotting is useless and has little impact on the US unless target on value added goods & service. Who do you think supplies starbucks & Macs, and works for them in their respective countries. Why don't boycot anything with Intel & AMD chips, harddisks, information/news, TVs & movies or uses US machinery or technology to produce? Who do you think will hurt more if US turnaround to boycott certain developing countries?

I think is better to engage with the US to find a solution.

I would like to know how to boycott HAMAS: after all they refuse to recognize Israel and therefore give the Israelis the excuse to carry on bombing. Also, they keep fighting from the urban areas where innocent civilians are, and knowingly endanger them. What do you expect the Israeli's to do? Keep getting bombed and not retaliate? Get real. We would feel the same if a BULLY refuses to acknowledge you have the right to exist and be left alone, and keeps punching you here and there with encouragement from ironically well-informed bystanders.

Where are the people who support charities that fund terrorism? How do I know who they are so I can boycott them? Will the silent people who hate these double standards stand up for once and tell these bullies off.

Can we just bomb HAMAS? Boycott is too troublesome.

McDonald and Starbucks got boycott? Does it mean there will be discounts soon at those outlets? Can't wait to get in and its a pleasant change from the usual kopitiams. Wow, and there will be long queues too! Meantime, am still waiting for Coke to drop their prices.

Still see many of them smoking American brand cigarettes like Rothman, Marlborro and so on. Why was'nt there a call for it? Would be good for the environment.

Boycott or not, I have been trying very hard to avoid junk food at my age. My wife always complains that my pants have become too tight.

Have not been eating junk food for quite some time. My wife been complaining my pants are getting too loose and been harping on me to buy new belts. The boycott may give me a good opportunity to reverse the process. Am waitng for them to make special offers as a result of the boycott. The money spent will be better than buying new belts.
