Some ophthalmologists wear spectacles as a lifestyle choice i.e. they are comfortable with glasses & even believe that they look good or scholarly putting them on, so there is no compulsion to undergo LASIK.
Low Risk does not mean No Risk. No LASIK operator is so far willing to offer astronomical sums of compensation against the "astronomical" odds of things going wrong.
The older ones might be quite used to specs or contacts and accept the inconveniences.
In addition, LASIK as a technology is still relatively new, so in the future, more doctors might opt to do it when they have more confidence and when they decide the benefits of being spec-free is worth it - vanity, sports, etc.
{There are doctors that undergone Lasik surgery and some remain with glasses}
Some ophthalmologists wear spectacles as a lifestyle choice i.e. they are comfortable with glasses & even believe that they look good or scholarly putting them on, so there is no compulsion to undergo LASIK. Others undergo LASIK because they find glasses inconvenient, or believe going without spectacles enhances their looks.
An ophthalmologist friend joked that he still wears glasses because he is the best practitioner of LASIK in S'pore, & since he is unable to carry out the procedure on himself, he will stick with his spectacles. LOL!
