Rail service to JB mega mall starts Monday
January 03, 2009 Saturday, 03:05 AM

THE newest mega mall in Johor Baru (JB), five minutes from the town centre, has been given its own train station for Malayan Railway trains originating in Singapore.

The promotional ticket is S$3 and return is RM3. What are the charges like after the promotion is over?

If more Singaporeans go in to JB to shop, it will bring down GDP at home.

It will be up to the Singpapore govt to think how to discourage [by longer queue at immigration] Singaporeans from going over to JB easily.

It cannot be prosper thy neighbour policy.

90 minutes to get all the way to Danga City Mall --- worth it? KTM is one of the worst public transport ever....

It is up to you all.
The choice of shopping at JB or Singapore lies in the hand of Singaporeans.
If Singaporeans want to boost, innovate, promote and strengthen the structure of the local retail industry, citizens must participate in the round-table discussion with the government.
This is business competition.
JB wants to take advantage of the high value of Singapore currency.

With the high crime rate there, there is still a no go for some singaporeans unless they do something about it.

Please wear pants and put cash in your pocket.

If you have to carry a handbag, do not have any valuables or important things in it. Umbella or tissue paper etc. should be in there, not your purse, credit cards, IC, passport, etc. Be wise while in JB.

When a snatch thief takes place, waive it goodbye.

Respect the Divine Principles of Cause and Effect as it is applied 24/7 wherever you are, no matter who you are whatever your religion, sect, denomination, belief and no belief.

The Divine Principles are independent of it. Blind to it.

It applies to all without Fail when you show scant respect for it.

JB people will definitely need to improve their standard of English if they are to become even mildly attractive as a tourist destination to the developed world.
I'm not sure JB can be a genuine tourist attraction because I'll bet that the roughness of the place makes it extremely unattractive to Westerners.

Frankly, the prices of goods there are not really competitive if not for the S$ and RM.Therefore, will not go over there to shop ever.Considering the crime against Singaporeans, will not jeopadise my life for a few dollars saved.
Now as the shops are seeing a drastic drop in Singaporean shoppers, they are at it again-wooing us to shop at their shopping malls with the latest gimmick.Really don't think it'll work in the long run, when SG shoppers return to shopping there and their economy gets better, the fox tail will eventually surface and the Singapore bashing will certainly returns.
Don't forget the frown faces of the custom officers at the other end,the long waiting queue, the not so honest taxi drivers, the roving-eyes shopkeepers, etc.
Even when they provide free transport to their shopping malls will never get me to shop there ever.
