'People with no income, such as retirees or housewives, will have their subsidy rate pegged to the value of their homes. If their homes are valued at $11,000 or more, they will get the minimum subsidy. ' is this $11,000 the annual value or what ??

$11,000 value of home? Would that be referring to a value of a run down illegal hut in the forest?
Again Singapore has shown that it is not a place for the old. Once your time has run down, you are no longer valued and thrown to the scrap. I thought a retiree and housewives, and old people should get the max subsidy.
I guess the reason for the policy is that they require labour (old people) for fast food joint and the cleaning toilets.
People with no income, such as retirees or housewives, will have their subsidy rate pegged to the value of their homes. If their homes are valued at $11,000 or more, they will get the minimum subsidy. About a fifth of all homes fall into this category.
and THIS:
All unemployed residents of HDB flats - excluding those in executive condominiums - will be entitled to full subsidy.
Unemployed residents of HDB can be retirees, housewives, old folks and also"lazy" bones of the society! Since most of the old folks are out thr working in food centres, meaning their subsidy is pegged to the value of their homes? And not because of their age thus they get free medical?
NonaSings - Housewives living in HDB flats should get smart and start filling in forms that asked for their occupations as UNEMPLOYED from now on, huh???
Ya the report is not clear. Unemployed can be directed to so many people, basically those who are not working. So when they made a distinction between unemployed and retirees/housewives, I wonder how they draw a line to that!
I feel the aged should be given 100% subsidy to their medical. Housewives who take care of their children should be given a fair share too. Afterall they are nurturing the future of the country :) However those lazy bones who can work but dont want to work, rather stay at home should not be given so much privileges!
NonaSings,
What about househusbands? Do they fall into the can work but don't want to work category, since it is not always obvious when there is a reversal of ancient gender roles?
