Excellent food but inflexible restaurant staff
December 23, 2008 Tuesday, 05:48 AM

MY FRIEND and I were having dinner at Caffe Cova in Paragon Shopping Centre between 7pm and 9 pm last Saturday. Our compliments to the kitchen for an excellent dinner. From the presentation and portion sizes, to the freshness and taste, the food was a sheer delight. It was almost a perfect evening.

Problem with customers these days - they don't meet the expectations of the restaurant's service staff. If the food was bad - complain. Food is good - also complain.

Caffe Cova is extremely overpriced tai tai che chee place. Go there if you want to be royally ripped off.

I will term these as problem customers. When a prepared, priced items are available why do you want to experiment? Why ask for mix & match? How can the waiter determine how much to charge? Please dont put the waiters in an embarrasing situation. Do all your experiments at home.

this letter is a waste of time. Are there no more worthy letters worth publishing?

Simple lah...if you were not satisty with their service, don't pay the 10% service charge. It is well known that flexibility is out of their dictionary here.

Why you have golden feet? Cannot go over the counter and enquire about the desserts? Problem and lazy customer.

This letter simply shows the typical Singaporean mentality, that "customer = king", and that Wee Kek Koon is just a hopeless case ... No initiative, only know how to sit there & complain, and even had the cheek to write to this forum ... Sigh!

I'd like to give Kek Koon the benefit of the doubt. His letter was probably (badly) edited by ST. What he probably meant to say that the waitress could have shown more flexibility and initiative, two qualities that are starkly lacking in customer service staff in Singapore, be they Singaporeans or foreigners.

There are Cova restaurants in HK too, and the waitress that Kek Koon encountered wouldn't last 5 mins working at any one of them.
