not just that--

even pr need to be let go first if their performance is on par to a singaporean, just because they are here to make a living only and if we singaporean were to be soft on them at this present situation more well take adventage of our weak points and no pr well become singaporean. this is the best time to shows them what singaporean is about , make them know singapore is not ran by sotong gahmen.

Although the intention is good but I am afraid the call might have come a little too little and a little too late. I think the damage have already been done and the situation is very difficult to managed.

I still remember the slogan, " What takes 100 years to prepare can be destroyed within a 100 days" if it falls under the wrong management.

Can the Ministers have more integrity than the rock-bottom level they are already dwelling on. Political watchers will not soon forget how the government had eased the quota ratio, shorten their certification test, etc. You can easily deduce if employers would think retrenching a pink-IC worker is a hassle.

Poor performance workers should be sacked first .. and that includes many Singaporeans who display poor performance attitutes.

Being Singaporean should NOT be an EXCUSE to be sacked last !
Many foreigners have better work attitute and performance compared to Singaporeans.

Singapore Labour Chief Lim SS must wake up when he comments unnecessary with the wrong statements at the wrong time.
he must live in the present globalized economies which Singapore is in the middle. Not just play too much emotional politic with our emotions of 'talk' and talk about Singaporean being last to be axed. Prior to that crisis ,what are his proactive measures(/) (if he has any dreams or ideas beside mere quoting worthwhile quotes) to ensure we are always first in the list of competitive leading edge in present day economies.
He must learn to be a real labour chief by going down to the ground everyday and feel the real issues, beside talking to the cabinet ministers. Big Chief must have bigger overview than the labourers, or else kindly step down and let another one take over that position. Meritrocracy is our survival policy across this island. We work harder than anyone on this land to survive, so please be real with us, Big Chief.

I agree with CONCLUSION. Poor performance worker should be sacked first. If you are the boss, would you sack a good worker just because he is a PR? and keep Singaporean whose performance is below par? Doesn't make sense i think.

Non-Singaporean worker or talent should be hired on the basis of his or her merit and the employer's needs. When the employer's financial conditions require redundancies or salary reductions of these personnel, these should be decided on the best interests of the employer's.

Letting non-Singaporeans go first is very short-sighted, and I am surprised that this was even raised.
