Thanks for a smoother ride, LTA

I REFER to the recent discussion in the media on the bus-lane issue. It seems most views presented were from motorists who were concerned about their road space being taken up by public buses. I would like to look at this from the perspective of bus commuters who travel daily by public transport.

Oh sure, buses get a smooth ride even though commuters have a long wait. How about the issue of underutilised bus lanes, unusally long bus lane timings that only benefits LTA officers on the lookout for drivers who are frustrated with the jams and drove on the bus lanes, super long jams due to one less lane. All this point to poor planning by LTA. The no of people in the cars are not less than the people sitting in the buses, so what's the equation that LTA uses to fixed the bus lanes permantly on some roads. And there are so much confusion over the many dotted and long lines drawn all over the roads, especially when you want to make a turn or keep left to filter towards your destination. Poor planning, LTA. Only car drivers will understand what I am referring to. Mr Ho can keep his blinkers on and praise LTA to the heavens, when the situation does not befit it.

"In the course of my community service ..." RC member hoping for National Day award with this letter?

Agree with waytogoLTA that it's stupid to make motorists just waste pertol and time in the lane next to the bus lane while waiting to turn left when there's no bus in sight behind, or when the closest bus is stopped at a traffic light behind you.

What LTA should look into is one-way bus lanes, as in bus lane restrictions in the morning for traffic headed towards town only and vice vera in the evening.

wat the heck!!!!

2 letters praising this decision by LTA.

What about those letters which argue that the solution would be to increase the frequency of the buses, and not fine fine fine all the time???

I am sure that there are such letters which are sent to the forum. why are those letters not published. why only publish lettters that support PTCs decision??

This only shows why many people call ST the State's Times.

it is stupid to assume motorist are rich

there are so many old cars cheap cars on the road whose owners got no choice because they need it to make a living - small time contractors (plumbers, electrician, painters, odd job labourers, sales man, property agents trying to close sales.....)

people should have more cow sense to realise that it it not possible for small time contractors (plumbers, electrician, painters, odd job labourers, sales man, property agents etc) to rely on the bloddy unreliable public transport (timing, schedule) to earn a living

if bus commuters do not mind, please expect plumbers, electrician, painters and the like to make use of buses and MRT with all the tools of trade lugged around in the bus and MRT

LTA,

Please allow taxis to use the bus lanes [not for picking or letting down passengers] to improve and maximise road usage. Many cities do that.

KPE tunnel expressway under-utilised. LTA, do you know why?

Building a tunnel at the Marina Barrage for vehicle traffic. What is the expected level of usage? Will it be under utitlised too?

When will the N-S expressway be built connecting Marina South to Woodlands? This distributor expressway should be given higher priority than building the tunnel at the Marina Barrage.
