Getting the election over and done with at the onset of the economic crisis instead of risking having to hold an election in the midst of a severe recession seems like a smart thing to do.

However, the fiasco of MSK escape is still very fresh in the hearts and minds of the citizens.

people deserve what they choose - good or bad. If you think opposition is good for you then choose it but don't regret later or if you think PAP does wonders and enhances your family life and property prices then by all means support it and simply don't complain later if you are not happy later on.

I bet all the sphere carriers in the CC, CCC, CCCC, CCCMC. CCCMMMCCC, etc, etc are getting ready to bullshit their MPs and ministers that 'the ground is sweet' or maybe they have they succeeded already, which might be why the gahmen may want an early election.
