Diego Maradona's 2nd goal in that game against England was hailed as the greatest goal in World Cup history & voted the goal of the century in an online poll. He dribbled past 5 England players before scoring. Unfortunately, that goal has been eclipsed by his handball, "Hand of God" goal. Maradona admitted 9 years later on tv that he struck the ball with his hand on purpose.
eagle, i admit his skills then was fantastic! look at the way he dribbled past all 5 opponents, who can only smell dust, and come head on 1 to 1 with the goalkeeper. i saluted to his skills but not his integrity.
I agree with you. Diego Maradona had a low centre of gravity, which helped him in short sprints. He excelled through his great physical strength, technical skills, ability to operate in limited spaces, hold the ball for long periods to draw defenders away from his team-mates & fierce shooting. He could dribble with pace, get down the left wing to accurately cross to team-mates & deliver lethal free-kicks. He was elegant with the ball at his feet for such a short man.
