the genco cocked up, the ema cocked up, and no one has the spine to pin it down to put a stop to blatant price increases to boost their bottom line, that is it and nothing else

it is widely suspected that the price increase was due to a profot guarantee given to buyers who bought the genco at high cost....just hearsay, please do not sue me

In Hong Kong, they have a very strong consumers driven consumer association that can wake up small, medium and even big corporation.

Many businesses are fearful of the consumer association and play along their reasonable demand.

Hong Kong power companies use coal from China to generate electricity. The (very) cheap coal translates into low electricity bills. However, burning coal adds to the already ghastly air pollution that plagues the city.

It's not so much that the consumers' association in HK is powerful - they have no actual power - but the blanket coverage in the press re: defective goods/services. It's the naming and shaming that companies fear.

Journalists, economists and industrialists and politicians please do a comparison regionally and globally and tell us what the rates are for electricity- are Singapore customers getting a good deal. If not please recommend the reforms necessary to bring greater efficiency and competition and transparency into the market.

HK people pay HK$0.88 cents, Singaporeans pay S$0.81 cents. What is average income of HK people vs Singapore people? Not sure if this is fair comparison by converting the currencies.

new facts, figures, statistics continuously come in. dont know who to trust anymore. btw sp should waive the $0.50 late payment charge. one week grace is ridiculous. some people only check their mail weekly. wonder how much they make from the $0.50 yearly.
