INSURANCE agent Patrick Low yesterday laid a bouquet of 80 roses and two sunflowers by a portrait of the late Mr J. B. Jeyaretnam, who died at the age of 82 early on Tuesday morning.

The roses symbolised the admiration Mr Low felt for the late opposition politician, whom he had not known personally.

Shocking news, and rather sad. But his place in Singapore history is assured -- the first opposition MP to break the PAP monopoly in post-independent Singapore.

Condolences to the family.

My condolences to the immediate family.

Life and Death. Fate and Destiny. Is the future in our hands. A moment here and the next the person is gone. How many is guaranteed to see sunrise on 1 Jan 2009 not to say live up to age 94.

MIWs must have felt a great relief that JBJ has gone and will not continue to bea pain in the neck for them, isn't it?

Sadly, JBJ brought along his discontentment and dissatisfaction [unhappiness] with the politics of RD with his soul to continue with the fight [struggle, a heart of conflict] in the astral world, isn't it?

There are no politics in the astral world but only an Unseen world of training of the soul.

RIP JBJ.

Over the next 49 days your soul can visit and sit in the Cabinet's PM seat or in the president chair at Istana if you want to. You can watch the going-on of the MIWs if you wish to. But your soul [spirit] cannot intervene even if you wish to. You are in the world of spirits.

JBJ has earned his place in local history. Call him whatever you like but you can never call him a quitter nor selfish.

I am saddened that the man has gone. He fought the good fight and died in the saddle.

Shame on you SPH in being unable to even write a decent epitaph. The last sentence of you article is deplorable. Could you not avoid one last attempt to editorialise?

Oh man! One loud opposition voice had been silenced. Bad!Bad!Bad! Sad!Sad!Sad!

RIP, JBJ. Will always remember you as one brave man who spoke the loudest and was never afraid to make sacrifices for your fellow S'poreans.
