The suspension of Ahmad's UMNO's activities is in the right direction for the peace of the country but he should also be charged under the sedition act without fear or favour and put behind bars as a lessaon for all.

If he's a Chinese or Indian, he's probably in jail already.

UMNO official Ahmad Ismail is a clear example of what decades of affirmative action has done to bumiputras. He has lost confidence in himself & his fellow bumis. As long as bumis, like Ahmad Ismail, believe that they cannot compete on a level playing field with the other races, they fear the dismantling of the NEP. UMNO wants to maintain the status quo, as it means that the elite bumis i.e. the privileged few in authority, will continue to hold onto power & dip their hands into the cookie jar with impunity.

It is in S'pore's interest for the NEP to continue, in whatever form & name, as it continues to ensure that Malaysia loses its competitive edge. The marginalisation of the Chinese is actually good for us, as we continue to benefit from the brain drain down south. Malaysia will continue to rely on their 2nd or 3rd tier of talent in both govt & business.

As long as the status quo is maintained, Malaysia will never be an economic threat to S'pore. Their best brains will continue to seek greener pastures as FTs in our country or the West.

Yes agreed with u... Left KL after 4y working in the banking industry there, frustrated with the system and progress and the people I reported to. Got a scholarship from Spore gahment to pursue postgrad, and been here since then (7y). During the 7y here, I have seen more than 50 of my Msian chinese friends moved down here for good. Most have planted the root here, married and bought properties and settled down here. This is just my own circle of friends, imagine how many other groups of 50 out there left the countries because the frustration and NEP?

I will estimate about half of the talented minorities have seek better opportunities elsewhere, and this is why Msia has not progress far. The talented one left in the countries are being suppressed by those lazy and undeserving bunch, thanks to NEP.

And I heard that some of the brighter sparks from Singapore are benefiting from the brain drain by taking their places - their ethnicity making them acceptable, their training in Singapore making them valuable.
