MM: Political system has to evolve
September 09, 2008 Tuesday, 08:47 PM

MINISTER Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, who is turning 85, says he will fortify Singapore's future as long as he can.
In an e-mail response to questions from The Straits Times ahead of his birthday on Tuesday, he adhered to his lifelong focus on Singapore's well-being when asked what ranked as most important items at his age.

Why didn't the ST dare ask MM what are key areas need policy reversal or u-turns?

What areas he could have done better if he had the magic wand to turn back the clock to 1998, to 1988 and to 1965?

What are his mains concerns for the next 10 years, why, and how he intends to fix it or get his MIWs to fix it?

Why I ask?

Because many do not dare ask.

Because many MPs and NMPs dare not ask MM in Parliament.

Me no way can be in pristine Parliament lah to ask or have a space in ST to ask.

So best is to ask questions on this DB. No editing, no 450 words limit, just type, click post, and you read it instantly, isn't it?

MPs and NMPs, are you copying? Are you reading?

So please ask, be daring and ask, ask MM all these simple questions in Parliament.

MM is still holding on to the forte. He has no confidence in the Cabinet. The question is how long can MM hold on? He is already 85. Will MM still be as calculating and sharp? I beg to differ.

He needs only to stare hard and wave his fore finger lor.

The MIWs shiver and wet.

"Why didn't the ST dare ask MM what are key areas need policy reversal or u-turns?"

He will say there is nothing to U-turn, we just evolve.

"What areas he could have done better if he had the magic wand to turn back the clock to 1998, to 1988 and to 1965?"

He will say this is academic and a waste of time question with the usual smile.

"What are his mains concerns for the next 10 years, why, and how he intends to fix it or get his MIWs to fix it?"

He has already said that Singapore must plug into the global system. This means even millions of more FT's, more indirect taxes (raise transport prices, ERP, etc). And to retain the Division 1 MIW's we must expect to raise their pay for each of them $20 million within the next 10 years.

So what's new? PR's enjoying the same benefits as Singaporans within the year?

MM should learn to let go and relax. And let the current team including his son the PM have the whole stage. Not matter how attached he is, at some point he has to go.

I sincerely hope MM will stay alert up to 95.

But we know some the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

Some great men went into fast decline in alertness, zeal and enthusiasm when their immediate loved ones [mostly the spouse] passed away, leaving them shattered in spirit [the soul], affecting the mind, and then affecting the body

Few of them lack the true values of GP and AP to overcome this kind of set-back in life due their inability to respect the Trinity that governs all human lives.
