Issue of inter-faith talks must be addressed
September 06, 2008 Saturday, 08:18 AM

I REFER to Wednesday's report, 'Clergy 'wary of inter-faith talks''. This is the situation we must address if we want to work for religious harmony in our multi-religious society. We cannot afford to be embroiled in conflict among the different faith communities. The cost is too high. As Professor Tommy Koh has warned, 'it will threaten everything we have build for the last 43 years'.

S'pore must work towards religious harmony, if we do not wish to witness scenes like the Hindu rampaging mobs in Orissa, India.

Some 50,000 Christians are fleeing to the remote jungles to escape attacks by Hindu mobs, in Orissa now. Another 10,000 are under guard in refugee camps. The Hindu violence erupted after an anti-missionary Hindu leader, Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, was killed last month.

Maoist rebels in Orissa have claimed responsibility for the swami's murder, but that did not stop the revenge attacks by Hindus. The World Hindu Council blamed 'Christian militants' for the killing & urged revenge attacks on Christians. Sounds like an attempt at genocide by the Hindus!

Over 400 churches/buildings have been damaged or destroyed, while about 1,000 homes have been burned by Hindu mobs supporting the World Hindu Council.

According to the New Delhi human rights group - The Asian Centre for Human Rights - more than 50 Christians have been murdered so far.

So long as there is no true sincerity by participants that will make the Creator God happy [not making man happy] driven by GP and AP values absolutely, the inter-faith dialogue at best is a sham and a wayang.

Many can fool others [humans] all the time, but no one can fool the Unseen.

There are killings right now in Orissa, India and thousands of Christians are hiding in the jungles from the lynching Hindu mobs out for revenge killing.

Will the inter-faith dialogue dare to offfer apology prayers jointly to each other's faith and hug and cry in deep remorse for the killings, no matter under whatever pretext, reasons, beliefs or non beliefs?

The Creator is waiting for all religions to offer prayers of apologies to one another's religions.

The Creator is waiting for all mankind to make concrete efforts in offering their debt of Gratitude.

Unless humans wake up and stop the killings [thou shall not kill], there will be endless sufferings of humans due to pain, suffering, turmoil, conflict, sickness, diseases, and disasters. Do humans understand?

When will humans open their spiritual eyes?

Do humans understand what is in: John chapter 3 verses 19 to 21, spiritually not physcially?

Dr Yap wrote: "On the journey, we need to borrow the light from one another."

I do not know what Dr Yap has in mind when he used the word light without elaborating.

Is it physical light or spiritual light [the Light that Moses saw in Mount Sinai, the Holy Spirit, witnessing that God is Light, which has been mentioned more than 40 times in the Bible. The Bible is on matters of spirituality, more on spiritual matters than on things physical, isn't it?].

Do humans [including religious leaders] know how to discern John chapter 3 verses 19 to 21 spiritually and not physically? Is the mention of the word 'light' in these three verses refer to the physical light?

Some people will continue tol jeer at the light [in these three verses], some casting aspersions at it, that it is moonlight, candlelight, arc lamp light, sunlight, artificial light, camp fire light, etc. Pitiful that man's spiritual eyes are shut so tight. The suffering of man continues.

EVERY religion in the world is exclusive & intolerant of others. Let us not single out Christianity for bashing by anti-Christians on this DB.

Look no further than the religious situation in Malaysia. In spite of the govt's campaign of 'Islam Hadhari', the relationship between Muslims & minority religious groups has gone downhill over the past 6 years.

Islam Hadhari proclaims the "freedom & independence for the people" & "protection of the rights of minority groups".

However, the issue of freedom and religious rights is constantly being violated in Malaysia. Earlier last year, Islamic officials arrested a Muslim woman & forced her into a rehab centre. Her crime? Marriage to a non-Muslim. Her Hindu husband & her were forcibly divorced. She was ordered to keep her baby away from the biological father. The reason? To prevent the infant from becoming a Hindu.

Another case last year involved a Hindu lady, R Subashini, whose husband embraced Islam, & was unable to get a divorce at the Civil Court. She had no alternative, but to go to the Syariah Court. The problem is that under the constitution of Malaysia, the Syariah Court's responsibility is to handle Muslims affairs; the Civil Court jurisdiction is over non-Muslims affairs. As a result, Subashini lost custody of her children. She was forced to go to the Syariah Court, where her chances of success were that of a snowball in hell.

About a year ago, Islamic authorities raided the house of a Hindu man & his Muslim wife. The couple were forced to separate & charged with having an illegal marriage. Their 3-year-old daughter was taken away to prevent her from being converted to Hinduism.

Christians have not been spared. They are under religious restrictions, in spite of official claims of religious freedom in Malaysia. A prominent case involved that of Lina Joy (a Muslim woman who became a Christian). The charge? Apostasy. The penalty according to Islamic law? Condemnation to death.

Does religious freedom exist in Malaysia? No. The concept of Islam Hadhari has not been accepted, in spite of PM Badawi's claim that it is seen as the model by which all Muslims in the country should strive to adhere to. There is, as yet, no clear definition of what it constitutes. The govt's commitment to the idea is also decidedly half-hearted.

Najib's insistence, in 2007, that Malaysia is an Islamic state, will drive the wedge deeper between the Muslims & non-Muslims.

So long as the major religions worldwide do not trust each other, trying to be 'the religion for all mankind' and 'out do each other', there will be no peace on earth among humans, isn't it?

Many pray for world peace. I don't. The reason is obvious.

This is not understood by many when I posted, 'the reason is obvious'. Some have posted questioning me on this as some do not understand what is in :
Acts chapter 28 verse 6 so easily and spiritually.

The Reason:

Unless I have inner peace and total harmony with all humans and nature [which I don't and still strugging to achieve], I am not qualifed to pray for world peace as at best [to me in my innermost thought] it is a sham a wayang to fool others but I cannot fool self and fool the Unseen.

I do the contrary to praying for world peace. I go contrary to the majority I am in the minority. Then what are my prayers if it is not for world peace?

Discern spiritually for the answers. Do you know what it is? Figure it out?

Akandatang lah.

You claim spirtual understanding yet all you produce is lunacy and gibberish. You admitted to not having your own Bible. Get one for free, there are plenty online. Alternatively, go to any neighbourhood church and they will be happy to provide one.

Otherwise, the only light you will be seeing is shining out off your own orfice.

All faiths are the same. They must kneel before the tunnel of eternal light.
