Er... but for the individual's survival, they can always migrate wat.

Every S'pore citizen is obligated to defend our country irregardless of sex and race. National Service is a legal requiremnt every fit and healthy males must serve. In times of crisis and war, our enemies are not after our NS men or ORD personnel only.

#3 - don't worry, China and the U.S. will help us fight.

China will provide more women to Sg to make your men's knee weak. These Yankee soldiers are a disgrace to the world. Rough and reeked of alcohol. The US soldiers are well known for raping local girls and women. Better leave them out. Okinawa is dying to get rid of the US Marines.

i was skeptical about Singapore's army to defend itself... then I saw the HBO TV series, Generation Kills. Basically about the US army (1 company of marine force recon) during Operation Iraqi Freedom. I've read the reviews of the series, and there are really 2 groups.
1. the people who were not in the war, says the show is quite boring
2. the people who were IN that very war, says it is damn realistic. (lots and lots of cock-ups)

And if that is the way the US Army (one of the world's most powerful army) works, then I do think that Singapore's army has a fighting chance.

#2 - when the going gets tough, the tough gets going... and with their entire family. They will then lend spiritual support to those fighting back home.

I dun understand the writer message. Is he a saint or sane ? Very noble. How many ppl feed their son 18 yrs to lost them in NS ? Cannot pay money to buy NS ? If can I pay any amt to be White Horse batch. You mean these white horses are not parasites to the rest of the NS man ?

NS men will protect Singapore in times of need, not forgetting spending 2 best years of their lives in training. For this very reason, they should be given a higher weightage in the allocation of scholarships, relative to women and foreigners.

The writer is mistaken to assume that all draftees are patriots. Some(the number may be big) aren't and they see NS as a burden. These soldiers will leave no families behind for others to protect. They and their families will be gone before troubles arrive.
