FURIOUS Singaporeans lambasted the shock decision by table tennis president Lee Bee Wah to remove team manager Antony Lee and to refer the fate of Liu Guodong, the team's head coach, to a coaching committee.
it was a world stage. the management failed to handle the crisis. prompt action was required. delaying would be hypocracy. officials questioning the 'timing and and her tenure at the office' appears to be shallow in their wisdom.
That another show of the fallacy of efficiency in Singapore.
Everywhere you go, the incoming boss must show that he.she is not sitting on his/her butt and she has better ideas and methods than the previous one.
The incoming boss must rock the boat, must look for some ways to rock the boat, whichever way.
Why is this inefficiency? Because they previous system (as is the case of the STTA) must have done a lot of things right.
But these are all wasted when the new boss simply sweep them aside just to prove that she is better than the old boss and has a better system and and spray the place with a lot of special 'insecticides' to rid the place of any traces of the old system.
U can't leave yr men alone in battle no matter what whether in sports or war. this is basic disipline. Can a sick army colonel send his men to battle without
him and expect victory?, or send them to their death ? if the colonel knows that he cannot win the war? Gao Ning was deserted on the battlefield.! He must have believed that he was left to Die !.
Untimely and ungracious :
I feel that sport and its management/peripherals should not be handled in the way(s) or manner(s) similar to what dealt with inside political arena. The value and return from a successful(genuine) sport promotion is benefiting a whole nation or even whole world, while the corresponding result is only limited mainly to the candidate or the party. Unless he or she possess a big heart, one would not be able to tell the moment of winning sporting spirit.
I think when Ms Lee makes her first blunder (everyone makes mistakes), maybe when she turns up late for another meeting because she was held up in another ministerial meeting then she should be sacked from her STTA President post?
Given the kind of treatment that was metted out to the team manager and the coaches by Lee Bee Wah- we finally see the true sight of a politician-ungrateful, ungracious, unforgivable, arrogant and ruthless, which Singaporean parents would allow their children to take up sports? This is clear that politics and sports should not be mixed. The management style and skills are more suited to "kill" oppositions and this is prove that they will also "kill" sports!
Walou a.....Wah, quit now le, if you have Singapore's interest to do well in sports or are you trying to show your "colour"?.
If you don't quit, then I think the Government should just "surrender" holding the youth olympics to Moscow(it is still not too late) rather than to waste tax payers money to hold the olympics without any aim or purpose.
