If you have the money.

The rest stay on home ground.

Have money will travel. Money talks and will talk quite loudly if you have more than the average man on the street. Some do not depend on their children to support them through old age. The children already have a hard time their immediate family with the cost of living so high nowadays. We can't blame them for retiring elsewhere, if htey have the money. But where are their friends and relatives if they retire elsewhere.

They can fly back every quarter, isn't it, if they can afford it?

Like quite a few SINs I used to entertain the thought of cashing in whatever I have, house, CPF, car, etc and then retire to some small Malaysian town and live like a datuk for the rest of my life (because multiplied by 2.4, I am an instant millionaire!). Can live in a nice landed property, can buy two or three Protons easily, etc, etc. And I really gave it a try.

But as I got to know the country better and hear and see more about their ridiculous policies and politics, I gostan' all the way from Penang to SIN. Sold my house after less than 10 months, put my car to reverse gear and gostan all the way with my wife!

Even if the cost of living is one tenth that of SIN, I still won't go settle there.

If one can afford it why not. Just ignore the politics there. Sg is not a healthy place to retire.

Not in Malaysia for sure if you want to involve in politics as a pastime. There is a good chance you may get charge for sodomy.

not a new news anymore.

just have friendly talks with people near your communities, including the singaporeans, and most of them will tell you that if they have chances, opportunities, as well as adequate money, they will pack their belongings (everything, including CPFs etc) and out of singapore in no time.

how about when miss some friends and relatives in singapore? don't we have budget airlines to carter for such things?
