our golden girls? please lah...patricia chan, joscelyn yeo and others are truly our golden girls!!! no need to glamourise foreigners to the point of idol worshipping.it's pathetic for singaporeans to do so. when will we have our own tan howe liang? we always take the shortest cut - but at what cost and damages to our own people? time to reappraise. wait for another 48 years.
malaysian lee took the silver in the badminton singles...that's national pride!!!
The way to go forward is import more div 2 FTs in all the various sports [since we cannot get the div 1 quality], but we can give them the training, train them well in RD and go for medals.
Most of our ancestors were immigrants who were nobody in their respective ancestry lands. They came here to eke out a living. After generations, many of us could proudly return to our ancestry land, not just to show that we have survived, but to also redeem our pride. In the same spirit, the table tennis girls had succeeded, and succeeded within their generation. Why argue about whether they are one of us because, in any case, you are still who you are. The table tennis girls have simply shown us that we must keep our immigrant fighting spirit high, so that we Singaporean could continue to hold our heads high, not just in sports, but also in economy and all arenas.
Will Li JiaWei give up her PR status after some time???? She has earned quite a bit from the sports but after her retirement from sports, she is just a ordinary China girl, with a little more money than ordinary Singaporeans.
If she moved back to China, her fortune will increase by 5times. Isn't it nice???
China has shown great dominance over the table tennis table. Their win is expected and cheered by Chinese across the world. Although our imported team is claimed to have beaten the Chinese team previously, it went on to show the quality of the Chinese team that they are able to turn around and trash our ‘Golden Girls’ 3-0. Good stuff always remains un-exported?
Can't our gahmen's scouts do it properly.. if they want to import talent.. please import only World No 1.s .. it would be nice to see the Cristiano Ronaldos and Lionel Messis become Singaporean citizens.. their advertising power will also bring in revenue ah!.. not like our China B team.. we should be buying the China A team!
