What is the big deal about getting into the table tennis finals? It makes a big mockery out of the Olympics. It will be China versus China in the capital of China, Beijing. Li Jiawei and Feng are China-born. Even though they hold Singapore passports, but they are still China nationals in mind, soul, attitude and outlook. Their psyche is still PRC mentality and does not synch with the psyche of Singaporean Chinese.

Even if the table-tennis team wins a silver or gold, I don't feel anything at all. They are not Singaporeans - they are PRC nationals holding Singapore passports.

Have Li Jiawei and Feng and the rest of the table-tennis team contributed anything towards Singapore's economic growth and prosperity? Will their winning an Olympic medal improve the lives of ordinary Singaporeans like you and me? No. It will only inflate their ego and their bank accounts and give them more leverage to emigrate to the USA or retire comfortably in China. It will only give the MIWs more reason to gloat about their achievements.

this is so typical of a singaporean singaporean. so narrow minded. most of us laugh or even scorn at our neighbours, malaysia. we laugh at them or even frown at the malays for being so narrow minded, protecting themselves against the indians and chinese. if we current singaporeans think this way abt our chinese born paddlers, what abt the malays in singapore think of us, the singapore chinese who are here because of our great grandfathers? also if we have michael phelps who choose to represent singapore and win 7 gold medals, would we treat him like we treat li jia wei & co? is it coz of the bad press abt PRC chinese that we are feeling this way? with this kind of mentality on who is or who is not a real singaporean will eventually divide the nation. A prime example is Taiwan. I close my case.

What the problem with all you people? True that Jiawei and Feng are China-born, but Jiawei has been representing us for 2 olympic and numerous other competitions. She has been in Singapore for so many years, training here, eat what we eat, breath the very same air we breath. Should we give them due recognisation and respect they deserve?

If the table tennis team is reading this, ignore the minority who appear self-centered, cos they forever are complaining. You gals do the nation proud and whatever it is we thank you for the great effort you put in the olympic game..ALL THE VERY BEST in your sunday match against CHINA.

Yesterdays table tennis match between KOR and SIN was so thrilling and exciting, fantastic skills which i enjoyed watching. Well done girls, go for gold.
