SINGAPORE celebrates its 43rd birthday today and looking back at my years here, I can't help but feel an immense sense of belonging in my adopted country.
admirable sentiments kelvin. "Singapore is where I belong...after 21 years my loyalty to Singapore is unconditional.I will fight and defend it as much as a citizen".
Become a citizen if you feel this way so that you can defend Spore as a real citizen and not `as much as a citizen'.
Hypocrite! Glib tongue and a louse. Kelvin Lee is like the GM Andy Lau of Crystal Jade restaurant at Takashimaya heaps praises of Sg and do not want to be a citizen. It is very rude and condescending of you to say Sg is your adopted country. What have you got to adopt Sg?
yesterday went to polyclinic . . . waited 1 hour 15 min to get to see the doctor . . . . . of course many PRs feel "shiok" in SG . . partaking the benefits . . . but no need to shoulder responsibilities of citizens . . .
You are a cunning guy. Even after 21 years you want to continue as PR. You want to enjoy the best of both worlds. If you are sincere why dont you give up your mother country citizenship and become singapore citizen. Otherwise it is all cheating talk.
well... "unconditional love" huh? if this place did not offer you better living conditions, better job prospects, better etc etc, would you have left your country of birth in the first place?
Really, Mindef should tap this pool of resources to do something constructive for the country, letting them put their words into action, for a start, get them involve in every year's NDP preparation, let them have a taste of those burnt weekends to see how strong their "unconditional love" is.
You sound like you were born in a country where you were badly treated. Were you born in iraq or cuba? If so, I can understand why the environment in Singapore is a breath of fresh air for you.
Kelvin - you are the worst hippocrite and double-headed snake who has written to the Straits Times Forum. I couldn't help but feel a rush of anger that made my blood boil when I read your letter. As a PR, you are still a foreigner, not a Singaporean. You feel a great sense of pride and belonging to Singapore, your adopted country and yet you are still a foreigner. You say that your loyalty to Singapore is unconditional and you will fight and defend it as much as a citizen.
OK Kelvin - let me ask you: Did you serve National Service? At an age when you were eligible to volunteer to serve National Service, did you serve? No. You preferred to remain a PR, enjoying the best of both worlds - having the privileges of living in Singapore but without the responsibilities of NS. Are you willing to go through 2 years of NS and several more years of annual in-camp trainings? All your talk is bull-**** and just empty hot-air and ***-licking crap.
Where did you come from Kelvin? Your country of citizenship must have treated you very badly and since you have such a comfortable and cushy life in Singapore, you sing praises of Singapore to the skies. You are the worst scum-bug and hippocrite.
