If the govt wants more babies, it should take on the cost instead of leaving the employers to bear the full burden of women on maternity leave. One idea is to have half the maternity leave borne by the government.

Until this mindset of employers has changed, I don't think the stock will arrive anytime soon ... the Government should consider itself fortunate if the birth rate does not fall further below 1.29 !!!

In addition to baby bonus, gvt may set up a maternity leave fund/scheme for SME to help employers share the cost.

The government needs to rethink the current cahoot between government, union and business - and strengthen the labour laws to protect our workers better, esp. against unreasonable dismissal.
